any virus is your own immune system.
Strengthen this God-given defense with vitamin and
mineral-rich fresh vegetable juices, vegetables,
fruits, and

other practical measures we take to keep our bodies
healthy and free from viruses: (1) Gargle twice
a day with Listerine. We've read that H1N1
takes 2-3 days after the initial infection in the
nasal cavity or throat to proliferate. Simple
gargling prevents proliferation. (2) Swabbing
both nostrils with Q-tips dipped in warm salt water
is also effective in reducing viral population.

the H1N1 flu virus: "The flu virus is supposed
to cause a 'cytokine storm'. This inflammatory
overreaction is what causes the damage, not the
virus itself. This is interesting because all
vaccines also cause a cytokine storm, one that can
last for decades. This is why vaccines are
linked to sudden death, joint pains, depression,
weakness and fatigue, mental cloudiness, seizures,
neurological disorders, and autoimmune diseases.
Unbelievably, no one seems to be concerned about
vaccine-caused cytokine storms.
Sadly, the medical elite ignore the fact that there
are a great number of natural substances that are
known to calm cytokine storms, and they have no
serious side effects."
Dr. Blaylock provides a list of these natural
substances. Two of the most important ones
that Doug and I currently take daily are
Bio-Curcumin and
Vitamin D3. We would take more of these if
there was a Swine Flu pandemic. A dose of 250
- 500 mg of Curcumin taken 3x a day powerfully
suppresses cytokine storms and has been shown to
reduce viral damage. We currently take 5,000
IU of Vitamin D3 daily but if a true epidemic
occured, we would increase to 15,000 IU daily until
the danger passed.
Dr. Blaylock concluded by warning people that
the following should be avoided: (1)
Omega-6 vegetable oils such as corn, canola, peanut,
soybean, safflower, and sunflower (2) Fluoride
in any form such as often found in toothpaste,
mouthwashes, and dental treatments (3) Mercury
as often found in fish, dental amalgams, and
mercury-containing vaccines (There is mercury in
H1N1.) (4) Sugars - High sugar intake
suppresses the immune system and feeds bacteria.

Why I Stopped Drinking Milk
All
of my life I was taught that "milk - it does a body
good". My Mother served me milk each night for
supper (yes, I'm from the South). I thought
that by drinking milk that I would have strong bones
and teeth. Mother also thought that by
drinking milk each day along with eating cheese and
ice cream that she could prevent osteoporosis.
But instead, she got osteoporosis at a fairly young
age, and is unable to walk today because of it.
When we decided to
adopt
The Hallelujah Diet in 1999, Doug and I went on
a quest for the truth. We discovered that
countries like Sweden, New Zealand, and the United
States which consume lots of dairy products are also
the very same countries that have the highest rates
of osteoporosis. And that countries which use
almost no dairy products like Hong Kong, Singapore,
and the Bantu tribes in Africa have much lower rates
of hip fractures. We also learned after
reading
The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell that
countries that have high consumption ratios of
animal to plant protein also have high rates of hip
fractures. We found a host of other scientific
studies that showed that plant foods bring the body
into a state of alkalinity, thus leading to less
calcium loss and stronger bones. What a
revelation to discover that porous bones is
primarily caused from the body pulling calcium which
is very alkaline, from the bones and teeth in order
to neutralize the acid from consuming the Standard
American Diet of meats, dairy, desserts, white flour
products, and cooked foods!
Although cow milk does have lots of calcium and
protein it has very little magnesium or
phosphorous. There must by a proper ratio of
calcium to magnesium and phosphorous in order for
your body to absorb the calcium. The
significant amount of sodium and protein in cow milk
causes the renal excretion of calcium.
So where do we get our calcium? Primarily from
dark green and dark orange fruits and vegetables -
foods like broccoli, spinach, kale, collard greens,
carrot juice, oranges, sweet potatoes, sesame seeds,
and almonds. I am so
thankful that a diet rich in dark leafy greens,
along with weight-bearing exercise and Vitamin D
will insure that my bones and teeth are strong and
healthy. The best sources for Vitamin D in the
winter months is eith
B-Flax-D or
Vitamin D3.
Vitamin D: The Neglected Nutrient by Olin Idol, C.N.C.
"Vitamin
D is required for the absorption and utilization of
calcium and phosphorus, with optimal levels of this
nutrient increasing calcium absorption by as much as
65% compared to a low "normal" level. It works
in harmony with other vitamins, minerals, and
hormones to promote strong bones, maintain a healthy
immune system, and help regulate cell growth and
differentiation (the process that determines what a
cell is to become). Moreover, it protects against
muscle weakness and helps in the regulation of the
heartbeat. Upper
"normal" levels of Vitamin D are associated with
lower risks for osteoporosis, several types of
cancer, MS, arthritis, heart disease, and juvenile
diabetes. One study determined that Vitamin
D-deficient women have a 253% increased risk of
colon cancer. Other sudies have found that higher
levels of Vitamin D can reduce breast cancer
incidence by 30-50%, and men with higher levels of
Vitamin D have a 52% reduced incidence of prostate
cancer. There is a
growing chorus from around the world that the RDA is
way too low. Many experts say levels between 21-29
nonograms per deciliter are insufficient, and levels
less than 21 are deficient.
When adequate sunshine is not available as in the
fall and winter or is not an option, daily
supplementation with 2,000 - 5,000 IU daily of a
good source of D3 (calciferol) should help maintain
adequate Vitamin D levels so that a deficiency does
not develop. Once
Vitamin D is produced in the skin or consumed by way
of food or supplemental form, it undergoes
conversion in the liver and kidney to form the
active hormone calciferol (the active form of
Vitamin D). For this reason, anyone with impaired
liver or kidney function may find it prudent to have
an assessment of his or her Vitamin D level.
The best blood test to determine the overall Vitamin
D status is the 25 (OH)D, which is also known as
25-hydroxyvitamin D.
Doug and I take the 5,000 IU Vitamin D3 each day.
It also comes in an 1,000 IU form.

Marilyn's Hearty Veggie Chile and Wholegrain Corn Bread
This recipe is a little different from my first Veggie
Chili recipe in Hallelujah! Simple Weekly Meal Plans.
I hope you will enjoy it! 1 large zucchini, diced
1 butternut squash, peeled & cubed 1/2 cup diced
red pepper 1 ear of corn, cut off the cob (or 1 cup
organic corn kernels) 1 onion, cut into rings
2 cans organic diced tomatoes (I use my own frozen
organic tomotoes from our garden.) 1 can organic
tomato paste 1/2 cup disilled water 1/2
teaspoon Frontier Garlic Powder 1 tablespoon
Frontier Chili Powder 1 teaspoon Frontier Cumin
1/2 teaspoon Celtic or Eden Sea Salt 1 can organic
black beans, drained Bring
everything except the beans to a boil. Reduce heat
and cook on low heat for 1 hour. Add beans during
the last 15 minutes. OPTION: Cook in your crock pot
all day.
Every time I have a pot of chili
cooking, Doug always asks, "Are we having cornbread with
that?" When we changed the way we ate 10
years ago, I knew I was going to have to come up with a
healthier version of cornbread. After many
attempts, I think I finally have arrived at a
good-tasting, healthier cornbread - Doug is very happy!
CORNBREAD: 1-1/2 cups Hodgson Mill Stone Ground
Yellow Corn Meal (This year we grew our own corn.
I have several quarts of organic corn kernels which I
grind in my
NutriMill Grain Mill for wonderful fresh, organic
cornmeal.) 1/2 cup whole wheat flour (I grind
organic red winter wheat berries in my NutriMIll Grain
MIll and store the flour in my freezer.) 1
tablespoon Rumford Baking Powder (no aluminum)
1 teaspoon Celtic or Eden Sea Salt 1 teaspoon
baking soda 1-1/2 tablespoons B-Flax-D or 1
tablespoon fresh-ground flaxseed 1-1/2 cup almond
milk mixed with 1 tablespoon raw, unfiltered apple cider
vinegar (Allow this to sit for 5 minutes.) 1/2 cup
organic unsweetened applesauce 1 teaspoon raw honey
Mix the ingredients in order. Stir well.
Your batter should be fairly soupy. Spray your pan
with olive oil and pour batter into pan. Bake
bread at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes of until golden
brown. Serve with chili on a cold, fall night.
