Dear Marilyn,
There's a battle raging throughout all of the world
for the temple of the Lord most high.
Not the temple of the desert or the temple on the hill,
but the one in which we live or die.
There's a battle royal for the bodies of the saved
and it's fought a most unusual way.
Not with rocket launchers, laser bombs, nor supersonic jets
but how we eat, drink, work, rest, and pray.
The words of this poem are at the back of my book, Winning the Battle for the Body. Marilyn and I pray that this newsletter will help you and yours to win the struggle against obesity, disease, and discouragement. May God bless you with good health and give you peace in this new year of 2008. And be sure to capture our $5.00 Coupon at the bottom of the newsletter, good for any purchase on our web site.

Winning the Battle for Health
|
It's a daily fight. Resisting the urge to eat animal products that taste sooo good. Resisting foods that contain processed sugar, salt, and white flour. Resisting the politically correct notion that animal products are healthy and necessary. And even going against the grain of traditional Christian dietary customs. Not to mention the giants that are idols of our day, such as medical doctors, hospitals, drug companies, the FDA, the USDA, the food industry, and our own relatives. These and many other obstacles block the way to healthy living. It is a daily battle. But we CAN win the battle IF we fight it first in our minds and hearts. Romans 12:1-2 tell us that we should be living sacrifices that are holy and clean of toxins and diseases. Verse two tell us that we should not conform to this world, but should be transformed by being informed on what is good and holy and perfect. The first diet given to mankind in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 1:29-30) was good, it was holy, and it was perfect. The Peaceable Kingdom visioned in Isaiah 11:6-9 tells us that God's ideal is for us not to eat the animals, nor for them to eat each other, just as it was in the beginning. And Revelation 21 and 22 gives us the vision of heaven where there will be no killing or eating of animal products. The tree of life will feed us 12 different fruits each month. It is true that the Lord Jesus ate meat when he came to earth. Let me ask you this. If you were sent on a mission to rescue a person from a destructive lifestyle who was from a totally different culture than your own, would you stick to all your own tradition and habits to reach him? Surely not. You would condescend to his level and approach him in a way that would not alienate you from him. In a similar way, Jesus had to approach a nation that was deeply seated in tradition, lifestyle, and sin in a way that would allow Him to be heard. He did not condemn slavery. He did not condemn divorce in the case of fornication. He did not condemn meat eating. His mission was to seek and save the lost, which is a process of conviction, repentance, rebirth, sanctification, edification, and ultimately glorification. Why did God change His mind about our diet? In the beginning (Genesis 1:29-30) we were to eat only plant foods, as were the animals. But when Noah walked off the Ark, God had to give them clean animals for Survival since there was no plant life left . He also gave us the animals for Sacrifice, to teach us that only a blood sacrifice could pay our sin debt. Even then He limited them to the "clean" animals that had a peaceful, vegetarian diet. And lastly God allowed us the animal products because it was our Sentence to die physically and the animal diet assured that end, especially if done in excess. See God's anger when the Israelites in the wilderness wanted animal foods as recorded in Numbers 11. God gave us the animals for our benefit, not for our exploitation. It is not a sin to eat animal flesh, but I believe that we should fast from all animal products in these last days. Let us rededicate ourselves to holy living and to being strong and full of life in these last days before the Lord Jesus raptures us out of this sinful world to the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:7-9). | Defend Against MRSA and Viruses
|
MRSA is a very dangerous and sometimes deadly bacteria that used to be confined to hospitals, but now has spread to schools and homes. MRSA is the acrostic for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or antibiotic-resistant staph. Our city of Jackson, TN reported 33 confirmed cases of antibiotic-resistant staph infections in 2007 through the month of October. This infection is a growing concern all across America. Marilyn and I have a machine in our home that kills this bacteria on surfaces without us having to do anything but plug it in. This statement was taken right from the EcoQuest web site. Scientific tests have demonstrated the use of EcoQuest air purifiers substantially reduce microbial populations on surfaces including but not limited to Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Streptococcus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, and S. chartarum. Presently EcoQuest does not make a similar claim with respect to airborne microbials.
Both Kansas State University and the University of Cincinnati have tested the EcoQuest Fresh Air 2 units and discovered that they kill these pathogens in under 2 hours. Wouldn't you want to have a machine like that in your home? Call us and we will give you a kit that will test your indoor air for bacteria and viruses. Our free trial with the Fresh Air machine will convince you that this is a machine that will help safeguard the precious lives of your family. Call us at 877-200-0862 or locally at 731-423-5313. Find out more online at http://www.tryfreshair.com. For more on the MRSA bacteria, go to the Center for Disease Control.

| Spotlight On Lettuces
|

When I was a child, the only greens I ate were turnip greens. And I didn't really develop a real liking to them until my mom started fixing corn bread and cane molasses with them. Today, Marilyn and I enjoy our turnips with the roots and the leaves, in other words turnips and greens. Since learning the Hallelujah Diet and its benefits, we have really developed a liking for a variety of greens, most of them fresh and uncooked.
According to Internet sources there are four distinct groups of lettuce. They are Crisphead (Iceburg), Butterhead (Bib), Looseleaf (green leaf and red leaf), and Romaine (Romaine).
The web site, www.nutrition.about.com, has this comparison gathered from the USDA Nutrient Data Laboratory.
One cup of iceberg lettuce:- 8 calories
- 0.5 gram protein
- 0.7 gram fiber
- 10 mg calcium
- 78 mg potassium
- 1.5 mg vitamin C
- 16 mcg folate
- 13.3 mcg of vitamin K
- 164 mcg beta carotene
- 152 mcg of lutein + zeaxanthin
One cup of romaine lettuce has:- 8 calories
- 0.58 gram protein
- 1 gram fiber
- 16 mg calcium
- 116 mg potassium
- 11.3 mg vitamin C
- 64 mcg folate
- 48.2 mcg vitamin K
- 1637 mcg beta carotene
- 1087 mcg of lutein + zeaxanthin.
The Romaine lettuce is a better choice. We eat some kind of greens every day of our lives. We also take BarleyMax daily because it is the richest of the green grasses and is always fresh and live. Order it today at our web site at http://www.alphaomegafood.com/BarleyMax.htm

| How to Build a Great Green Salad
|
At least three times a week Doug and I enjoy a huge garden salad for lunch. Wednesday is always "pita pocket" day when we stuff our salad fixings and some hummus into a whole wheat pita pocket. Two days a week I make a couple of side salads or a huge bowl of slaw. Sunday is the one day of the week that we eat some cooked food with our salad after church. We look forward to our salads because they are beautiful and great-tasting. We serve our salad on a large dinner plate and top our meal off with some apple slices (that's our dessert). I start off with either red leaf or Romaine lettuce and then I always toss in a couple of handfuls of organic baby spinach. Here are some of the additions to our salad (about 5-6 per salad preparation): diced tomatoes shredded carrots shredded or diced zucchini diced peppers (not green) sliced cucumbers small red onion rings broccoli florets diced yellow squash grated red cabbage handful of rinsed organic beans chopped walnuts sesame or sunflower seeds fresh corn niblets fresh sprouts* We enjoy growing our own sprouts and put them on our salads every day. This is a densely nutritious, very live food! We recommend the EasyGreen Sprouter. It is so easy and makes great sprouts. Buy one at http://www.alphaomegafood.com/easygreen.htm.
