| Dear Doug,
The Bible urges us to educate ourselves so that we will be able to handle the gospel and to be living sacrifices for the Lord Jesus Christ. As II Timothy 2:15 tells us.
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain bablings; for they will increase unto more ungodliness." KJV
This issue will seek to help you to know the latest research, the latest products, and the latest events that can bring better health and longer life to you and to your family. It will also expose false science and those who betray the public trust by falsifying research. Be wary and wise. Read on. Then take the "Are You a Good Person?" test. |
| Fruits & Vegetables Don't Work? |
You would think that 35 million dollars ($5 million from WalMart and $30 million from the National Cancer Institute) would be enough to get a study right wouldn't you? Well, if you read the AP report a few weeks ago, you found out that the University of California at San Diego conducted a study which concluded that the use of fruits & vegetables to prevent cancer is just folklore. This study is so obviously flawed it is just shameful. The report reveals "For now, the message for the 2.4 million breast cancer survivors...is that they don't need to go overboard on veggies...this should lift the guilt if women are feeling they are not doing enough." The report also admitted that the participants did not adhere to the dietary guidelines. There is also the fact that animal consumption was not monitored or controlled. Such studies are downright criminal because they mislead sick people down the road to death.
Reverend George Malkmus, in his weekly email Health Tips, says "
"Well, let's see who would PROFIT from this bogus "SCIENTIFIC" RESEARCH? This would include any business, group, or organization that derives profit from cancer! This would include the researchers, doctors, drug companies, hospitals, insurance companies, and even the American Cancer Society. What most folks fail to understand is that cancer is a huge industry into which BILLIONS of dollars are poured every year. "
"It would appear that those groups who have found cancer a tremendous source of income, derived from research dollars, drug use, surgeries, hospital stays, etc., feel that too many people are turning away from traditional cancer treatments in favor of alternative and natural cures, and this is hurting their pocketbooks. Thus, in an effort to eliminate the competition, they spend $35 MILLION of taxpayer dollars in an attempt to prove that natural remedies for cancer do not work.
"If the public realized they could prevent and eliminate cancer through simple dietary change, there would be no need for additional dollars to fund cancer research. In the past 30-plus years, over $200 BILLION has been spent on cancer research, and after spending all this money, more people are dying of cancer than before they spent that $200 BILLION. Are we so naïve as to believe that these researchers are REALLY LOOKING FOR A CURE? Remember, that once a cure is found, they immediately lose their research dollars, jobs, and income! In addition if a simple cure were found, hospitals and doctors would lose a high percentage of their patients and drug companies would lose BILLIONS in drug sales."
"Don't let junk science keep you from eating a diet comprised predominantly of the foods God told us we should eat in Genesis 1:29. The world's health care system does not want you to be well, as that would be unprofitable to those who are a part of this world's disease care system."
Dr. John McDougall commented from his July '07 McDougall Newsletter:
"Fraud is intentional deception resulting in injury to another person. They deceived the public by claiming they were able to cause the "adoption of a dietary pattern very high in vegetables, fruit, and fiber and low in fat". Neither lack of intelligence nor carelessness caused the report to be written in a manner that led the public and press to incorrect conclusions; I believe the authors intentionally deceived the public. One possible motivation for distorting the truth was to save face. They wasted $35 million dollars by feeding women with breast cancer an ineffective diet. Rather than admit their mistakes, they chose to distort the real meaning of the findings of their study, and effectually, deprive women of an opportunity to become healthier by eating more fruits and vegetables.
Sixty years of scientific research, involving tens of thousands of published articles, has identified the rich Western diet as the cause of breast cancer and many scientific studies have shown that a meaningful change in diet will allow women with breast cancer to live longer and healthier. Yet, one poorly executed, well-publicized study may turn the tide for better health for women.
Breast cancer is a fatal disease and women will do almost anything to live. They will endure poisoning by toxic chemotherapy, burning with radiation, and mutilation from breast-amputating mastectomy; in the hopes of living a few more days. Obviously, if asked to do so, and given proper support from their doctors and dietitians, they would do something as simple, safe, cost-effective, and enjoyable as eating oatmeal and bean burritos while avoiding beefsteaks and cheese omelets. In The Women's Healthy Eating and Living (WHEL) Randomized Trial they continued the same meat-, dairy-, oil-, and environmental chemical-laden diet that got them in trouble in the first place, with minor modifications. The investigators, not the women, should be held responsible for the fact that even the instructions to eat, "5 vegetable servings plus 16 oz of vegetable juice; 3 fruit servings; 30 gm of fiber; and 15% to 20% of energy intake from fat," were followed poorly. The full cancer-inhibiting benefits of low-fat, plant-foods were never offered to these women."
"Only someone familiar with the inside of the system can distinguish between sincere positions based in science and insincere, self-serving positions. I was on the INSIDE of the system for many years, working at the very top levels, and saw enough to be able to say that SCIENCE IS NOT ALWAYS THE HONEST SEARCH FOR TRUTH THAT SO MANY BELIEVE IT TO BE. IT FAR TOO OFTEN INVOLVES MONEY, POWER, EGO AND PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INTERESTS ABOVE THE COMMON GOOD."
And finally brother Malkmus concludes:
"Hallelujah Acres has received tens of thousands of testimonies through the years reporting that FRUITS & VEGGIES NOT ONLY STOP BREAST CANCERS RETURN, but cancer-proofs a person. In addition, people have sent me tens of thousands of testimonies reporting that these plant foods have also been responsible for the elimination of over 170 different physical problems. Don't let junk science keep you from eating a diet comprised predominantly of the foods God told us we should eat in Genesis 1:29. The world's health care system does not want you to be well, as that would be unprofitable to those who profit from this world's disease care system."
Join me in praying that the Lord will reveal the "profane and vain babbling" that are killing us. Let us "rightly divide the word of truth". |
| Whole Foods Vs Supplements |
Marilyn and I have always taught that whole foods are much better and safer than supplements. We believe that God created the whole foods so synergistically perfect that extracting certain substances from them could be dangerous. Now comes more proof that such is the case. Dr. Joel Fuhrman, writing in his June issue of Healthy Times newsletter, cautions that ITC's, Isothiocyanates contained in cruciferous vegetables, can become carcinogenic when extracted and used as supplements. But the whole cruciferous vegetables, especially when juiced, are some of the most powerful cancer fighters known to man. Cruciferous vegetables include: arugula, bok choy, broccoli, broccoli rabe, broccolina, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, horse radish, kale , kohlrabi, mache, mustard greens, raddish, red cabbage, rutabaga, turnips, turnip greens, and watercress.
Flavonoids or Bioflavonoids are another example of how supplementation with fractional nutrients can be dangerous. Flavonoids are contained in all plant foods. They act like dust mops because they attract toxins and are quickly excreted from the body like a dust mop is thrown away after dusting. Dr. Fuhrman cites a University of California at Berkeley study that shows that high concentrations of flavonoids in supplements sold in health food stores may actually promote cancer formations. The researchers say that "At high concentrations certain flavonoids can act as
pro-oxidants and can become mutagenic, meaning that they could cause oxidative damage and could cause DNA and chromosome damage". So although we Americans have a certain degree of freedom in taking supplements, we need to be careful in using concentrated extracts that could set off unnatural results. We encourage you to get your nutrition from God's perfect source, whole fruits and vegetables.

| Too Much Veggie Protein? |
Can you get too much vegetable protein? Of course you can. Especially with so much processed soy. This comes from Dr. McDougall's July Newsletter quoting the Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology Metabolism, and others.
"This advice to limit vegetable protein, too, was once a matter of avoiding beans, peas and lentils, including soy beans. However, today's markets are filled with "kidney toxic protein" made of predominately isolated soy proteins. 'Vegetarian' burgers, hot dogs, luncheon meats, sausages, candy bars, shakes, and cheeses are foods gravitated to by people looking into a healthier diet. But, these 'fake' foods are in fact unhealthy; made of an unbalanced hodge-podge of ingredients. They are usually deficient in natural dietary fibers, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and other phytochemicals. The isolated soy protein causes large quantities of calcium to be lost from the body; resulting in bone loss and kidney stones. These proteins also dramatically increase the production of growth hormone (IGF-1), which is known to promote cancer growth.
Even though soy proteins have shown some positive effects on kidney function, they will also provide a huge excess of protein that contributes to uremia and must be eliminated by the kidneys. In conclusion, these 'soy-vegetarian-foods' should be strictly avoided by anyone with failing kidneys."
These are more reasons to stay with whole, organic foods that have not been processed. The Hallelujah Diet & Lifestyle promotes a diet of 85% whole raw foods (organic if possible) and 15% cooked foods (lightly cooked). This menu can return the body to its health as has been proven by thousands who have stuck with it. Let me urge you to come back to God's original plan for health and longevity. | New Book on Iodine |
The following are some of the signs of possible hypothyroidism: Brittle nails, cold intolerance, muscle weakness, fatigue, hair loss, dry skin, cold hands and feet, poor memory, difficulty swallowing, infertility, irritability, hoarseness, muscle cramps, weight gain, and/or constipation. According to Dr. David Brownstein in his book, Iodine Why You Need It Why You Can't Live Without It, "If iodine is found to be deficient, many times reversing the iodine deficient condition can result in improving or even curing the hypothyroid condition". He has used iodine supplementation with many of his patients, achieving impressive results. He states, "The most important facet of iodine supplementation is that it helps patients improve their health and helps them feel better. This is due to the positive effects iodine has on the thyroid and the immune system, as well as the detoxifying effects iodine has on toxic items such as bromide and fluoride." He has also observed "detoxifying effects of iodine supplementation on mercury and other heavy metals." Iodine contains antibacterial, antiparasitic,
antiviral, and anticancer properties.
Dr. Brownstein has linked breast and prostate cancer, as well as spontaneous abortions, to an iodine deficiency. One natural source of iodine is kelp. Both the book and the recommended iodide/iodine supplement can be purchased from Hallelujah Acres by calling 1-800-915-9355. Please use our PIN (ACO) when ordering. This is a fascinating book that I highly recommend. - Marilyn |
