Wellness vs. Sickness - Cost Comparison

It is puzzling to me why people chose to cover up, cut out, or ignore
disease, when there is an answer that is cheaper and brings relief
from the cause of their symptoms. Let's take heart disease, for an
example. Most folks believe that heart disease is normal, expected,
and a certainty. They have insurance to pay for it when it comes, so
it's no big deal. It's not their fault, so why worry about it. Just
hope that when heart disease does come, it will come softly and not be deadly.

It is this kind of thinking that is very costly. Heart disease is the
largest killer of Americans, taking 1 out of every 2 people, and half
the time death is the first symptom. So who can say that you will be
one of the ones who has no warning at all when the killer comes
lurking? Your medical insurance will do you no good if death is the
first symptom. But what if you DO get a warning? What if you have pain
in your chest, arm, jaw, or other place and you get an examination
that says that you have blockage? The test you had will cost your
insurance company which in turn will cost you. Bypass surgery for
